Description

De bronzen herdenkingsmedaille van het bombardement op Antwerpen is een penning die herinnert aan de beschieting van de stad door het Duitse leger in oktober 1914. De medaille heeft een diameter van ongeveer 5 centimeter en is ontworpen door Alphonse Mauquoy. De voorzijde toont een zittende huilende jongen naast een gesluierde vrouw die haar hand beschermend naar de hemel houdt. Op de achtergrond is de verwoesting van Antwerpen te zien. Op de achterzijde staat de afbeelding van een granaat die het wapenschild vernietigt en de tekst BOMBARDEMENT D’ ANVERS BESCHIETING VAN ANTWERPEN 7 8 9 Oct. 1914

The bronze commemorative medal of the Bombardment of Antwerp is a medal that commemorates the shelling of the city by the German army in October 1914.
